Unbricking a 2.0+ GP2X

Did the last firmware brick your GP2X? Are you desperate because the guide you found doesn't work at all? I've been there. I managed to get mine working again, and it's actually not too hard. Follow those steps and you will get it working again in no time. You will need a 128MB (or larger) SD, a card reader, and a computer.

1) Get the 2.0.0 firmware from the archive. This is the key here: the 2.0.0 firmware has some files that aren't on the other firmwares.

2) Put your SD on the card reader and connect it to your computer.

2a) (may not be necessary) Format your SD card as FAT32. You may need to search on the Web how to do it on your specific OS if you're not sure.

3) Unzip the 2.0.0 firmware files to your freshly formatted SD.

4) Put your SD on your GP2x and turn it on, with SELECT and START pressed. Keep those buttons pressed until you see a "Firmware upgrading" screen.

5) This might take some time. Go have a coffee. When you return (if the coffee is long enough), you will have the menu back!

You will be on the 2.0.0 firmware, though. You might want to re-flash to the newest available firmware: grab it, unzip it to your SD (delete anything else that is on the card), and boot with SELECT+START pressed. It should work this time.

I'm no expert in this, but I hope this helps someone. Thanks to THB from the #gp2x channel for the brilliant idea to get the 2.0.0 firmware on my hour of despair. If this guide is not clear, feel free to contact me with ideas or questions.
